Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Results - Week Nine- Missed Week Ten Completely

Cross posting to clean_slates

Don’t worry I’m still here!! Ever since I last posted my life has been absolutely crazy, what with medical visits, worrying about my son's growing medical problems (which still remain undiagnosed), and back to back vet visits... then making sure Trisket, my 19 year old calico, was comfortable while I waited for the end to come... which it did early on the morning of June 11th.

And even though I didn’t post anything, I did try to keep up with my goals and do some writing here and there... in-between joining Yoshi in going 'pig pile' on the bed and giving Trisket plenty of love, chainsaws whining from morning till night, trees crashing down into my yard, as well as smelling the smoke from their burning brush piles day in and day out. It’s a wonder I got anything done at all.

Let’s see where were we?

My goals for the week of June 2nd were:

Writing:

1. Put up my moderator’s hat and try to finish the critiques for DB as well as SR and SW

DONE! And a new crop of SR and SW submissions have come in and I need to set a time to begin critiquing them

2. Go over my revisions for NTDPT and NDATFT and see if anything more needs to be done before submitting them to be critiqued.

NOPE – I hung another left in mid-stream and revised WRHASN and WRHAST and wrote a new piece, GP. I mailed them out during the week to be critiqued

3. Dig out NTWB and either TRC of TRK and begin their revisions

PARTIALLY – I worked on the revisions for NTDPT as well as those for NTWB.

Fitness:

1. Continue cutting back on the cran-apple juice and increase my water intake

NOPE- I’m not doing as well with this one as I'd like but I am holding my own with only 1 cup of tea and 2 cups of cran-apple juice a day. The rest of the time I'm drinking water, around 32 ounces.

2. Try to figure out something to do for exercise. I have been going down to the garden and just hoeing up the dirt but after yesterday I’m leery about doing that as I had a very near miss. I had just come up the hill from the garden and was headed into the house when a HUGE pine tree came crashing down right into the garden where I’d just been hoeing. My neighbors next door are logging the side hill and even though they had chains around the tree it got away from them. If I’d been 5 minutes slower both Canoe (who is my official garden helper) and I would have been flatter than a pancake

ONGOING – I have been trying not to sit for long periods of time and getting up and walking back and forth down the hall…at least being inside keeps me away from any falling trees that may come crashing down… and they are crashing down up in the woods on the left of my place and directly behind me. It's getting just a wee bit too close for comfort.

I wonder if any of those bozos have thought about mud slides this coming spring as it’s a very steep ridge that is being logged off and they are leaving very few trees which will not be enough to hold the soil in place come spring and all the water from the snow melt.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Goodbye My George

My 19 year old calico Trisket, whose nickname was George, passed away early this morning. She had been slowly going downhill since the beginning of the year and I knew that the end was in sight when Yoshi started to go 'pig-pile’ with her and she'd actually let him snuggle up to her without giving him a good bop. I’ve seen cats snuggle like that before and knew that it was only a matter of days.

Later this morning she will be buried down the hill next to Beeper, Zeke, Iditarod, Tater Tot, Kibbles, Dust Bunny and Zeus in the horseshoe-shaped flower garden that is my cat cemetery.

She was a very quiet, dainty cat and yet her presence in the house was unmistakable as her personality filled up a room. The house is SO quite this morning without her here.

I’m going to miss her four barrel purr and getting 'wash the baby.' If she was on the arm of the chair, in your lap, or on my pillow at night she’d reach over with her paw and gently grab my chin turning my head to face her and then proceed to give me a bath. She would also give me 'high five’s.'

I'm worried about how Yoshi, who is now 20(Canoe is the baby at 12) is going to handle her being gone. They were bosom buddies and always hung out together. I don’t think he realizes that she is gone yet, as he’s not prowling the rooms looking for her and yowling. That will come later this evening when it’s time for bed.

We'll miss you George, George!

They will be talking about writing, editing, book characters, and a little about her debut novel, Neil Armstrong is My Uncle and Other Lies Muscle Man McGinty Told Me. It should be interesting and informative, as well as fun!

Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Monday Goals On Tuesday - Week Nine

Cross posting to clean_slates

I'm still trying to play catch up with all my critiques. I'm afraid that I fell way behind and having back to back 3-hour medical appointments is not helping, as it cuts into my writing time. Grrrrr!! After the last go-round, the legs ached so bad I had to go lay down for the rest of the day.

You'd think we lived in Alaska the way our nutty weather can’t make up its mind whether it's spring or summer. We had frost again the other night. It was so cold the furnace (which was set at 52) came on and I had dug out my flannel nightgown to wear. What gives??

My goals for this week are:

Writing:

1. Put up my moderator’s hat and try to finish the critiques for DB as well as SR and SW

2. Go over my revisions for NTDPT and NDATFT and see if anything more needs to be done before submitting them to be critiqued.

Hope everyone has a great writing week!!
