Cross posting to clean_slates
I’m afraid that I boloed completely this week, as I couldn’t concentrate for more than a few minutes... my mind has been in Seattle with my son.
However, I did manage to get one DB critique out, and have another one set to go out this afternoon or tomorrow, but that's it.

Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Results - Week Seven
Cross posting to clean_slates
I didn't get as much done this week as I wanted to because of back to back medical appointments. And after the last go-round with PT the legs ached something fierce and at the same time the nutty weather decided that it wasn’t spring any longer but mid-July ... we went from 30 degrees and frost in the morning to a high of 92.
Even though I had all the windows and doors open and the large fan going the cats were hurting, so I kept running the cold water in the sink and bathtub to chill the enamel and Canoe cured up in the sink while Yoshi stretched out in the tub. I now know what they must feel like wearing a fur coat in the summer, as my leg wraps are like heavy leg warmers that go from my toes to my knees, which was nice during the winter ... but not so nice now.
My goals for this week were:
Writing:
1. Begin the May critiques for DB as well as SR and SW
ONGOING – The DB one is finished and I just need to give it a quick once over before sending it out. Hope to finish up with the others over the weekend.
2. Continue my revisions for NTDPT
ONGOING – After reading it over once again, I decided to do a complete rewrite from scratch and expand the roll of the woods fairy
3. Begin the revisions for NDATFT
ONGOING - I have started the revisions and can see where I need to add more depth and also bring Nana DuPuy to life more than I have, especially in her dealings with the fairies.. I may also give the nosey neighbor a larger role in the story for added tension
Fitness:
1. Continue to cut back on the cran-apple juice and increase my water intake
ONGOING – I’m not doing as well with this one as I'd like
2. Find some way to exercise that doesn’t cost money and is easy on the legs. I had hoped that walking would do the trick, but until I can figure out a way to walk outside without the leg wrappings making the tops of my feet hurt, I’ll just have to play it by ear.
NOPE – still looking for a way to do this
Hope everyone has a terrific weekend!!

Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Monday Goals - Week Seven
Cross posting to clean_slates
Well, it looks as though I’m still batting 1000, as far as my being late posting my Monday Goals. *sigh*I need to get back into the swing of things.
I was hoping that BEACHMO would help keep me on track this summer, but so far my life has in turmoil, what with my medical problems as well as those of my son. My mind has been anywhere, but on the task at hand... writing!!!
My goals for this week are:
Writing:

3. Begin the revisions for NDATFT

Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Results - Week Six
Cross posting to clean_slates
Geesh, LATE seems to be my middle name the past few weeks!! I’ve really got to get my act together and when my butt is in the chair ... stay away from watching TV shows on the computer and ... ignore Facebook entirely!!! No matter how much it is calling out to me.
I need to get back into production mode, legs or no legs. Ignore the pain and being uncomfortable!! I do know one thing though ... having both legs swaddled from the toes to the knees is going to be sheer HELL once the hot weather sets in, so I may try to switch my writing schedule around to writing in the early morning and late evening hours.
The only problem with trying to write into the late evening is that I am no longer a night owl. How did I ever hit the Top Hat and Exit 8 on the weekends and dance the night away?
My goals for this week were:
Writing:
1. Finish the last of the critiques for SW and send them on their way
DONE!!
2. Go over my revisions for HHBAT, TBLS, and HTFB and submit them to be critiqued on Friday.
DONE!!
3. Revise either NTDPT or NDATFT
ONGOING – I started the revision for NTDPT and hope to finish them sometime tomorrow
Fitness:
1. Continue to cut back on the cran-apple juice and increase my water intake
ONGOING – I'm not drinking as much water as I'd like, so I tried some of the flavored water that's on the market ... but it was crappy tasting. YUCK!!
2. With both legs wrapped I’m not sure how much I can do in the way of exercising. But I’m really going try not to sit for too long, but get up and walk around the house every so often.
ONGOING - I have been trying to do a few little things for exercise, like sweeping the carpets with a broom instead of getting out the vacuum cleaner. Sadly, it looks as if gardening is out again for this year. WAAA!!
Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Monday Goals - Week Six
Cross posting to clean_slates
Well, Monday came and went and I didn’t post any goals as I was snowed under getting all the SR critiques out... but they're out, and 3 of my short stories/PB's were sent in to be critiqued.
I’m still having daily treatments on my left leg and today was my first day back undergoing PT – it was a 3-hour session and they want me to come in 2-3 times a week. Yikes! I’m not sure that will be possible due to my problems finding transportation.
I've got to go put my legs up for awhile and see if I can get them to calm down.
My goals for this week are:
Writing:

Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Results - Week Five
Cross posting to clean_slates
I began my antibiotic treatments on Tuesday and they really weren’t as bad as I expected. I have to soak my left leg in this tub of blue water and then have it smeared with cream before it's rewrapped. I’m scheduled to have a full 2 hour PT treatment this coming Tuesday at MAH. Not sure how many sessions the Drs have scheduled, but I hope it isn’t more than 2-3, as my pocketbook can’t take much more. I would love to have them every day, but the cost is enough to choke a horse. Thank god the insurance is picking up most of the tab, as it's well over $10,000.00 so far.
One of the strawberry boxes is now complete and in place in front of the deck... it’s a huge sucker! 82 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 20 inches high...it comes right to the bottom of the deck. We tried to save as much dirt from the old box as possible and mixed it in with some garden dirt but it looks as if I’ll need about 10 bags of topsoil to bring it up even with the top of the box.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad week. I even managed to do some writing.
My goals for this week were:
Writing:
1. Finish the last of the critiques and send them on their way
ONGOING – They all should be finished and emailed out by this weekend
2. Finish revising TBLS
DONE! I finished it in one afternoon! The changes seemed to come out of nowhere and the time flew by. I love it when everything clicks into place like that.
3. Go over my revisions for HHBAT, TBLS, and HTFB and submit them for critique on Wednesday and then again on Friday.
DONE! I’m already getting critiques back from people and so far they love them and think that HTFB and TBLS would make wonderful PBs, especially TBLS, which is one of my favorites, so I’m thrilled. The consensus is also NOT to turn HHBAT into an MG or even a chapter book, but leave it as a short story and send it out to a magazine like Calliope or Cricket, rather than a PB as the language is quite a bit older with words such as, frigid, fugal, branded, lochs, and craggy mountains.
Fitness:
1. Continue to cut back on the cran-apple juice and increase my water intake
ONGOING
2. Help Marge build the two boxes tomorrow that will go on either side of the deck.
ONGOING – One box done and in place, the other box has to wait until the daylilies are dug up
3. Dig up the daylilies to make room for the boxes.
NOPE - I may try to dig them up this afternoon if it doesn't rain
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Clean Slates - BEACHMO - Monday Goals - Week Five
Cross posting to clean_slates
Sorry to be late again, but over the weekend the legs started giving trouble and yesterday when we redid the bandages we discovered that I was leaking fluid, so I called and made an appointment for this morning and went to the Drs bright and early ... and four hours later they still had no reason for me to be dribbling all over the place like I am. I'm scared sh**less that the left leg may be ulcerating. The upshot is that I’m to have antibiotic treatments once a day for 10 days and am also headed back to MAH for more PT treatments.
Damn, Damn, and Double Damn!!
And I just had my garden roto-tilled, too. It’s a good thing I haven’t ordered that many seeds as I’m not sure how much gardening I will actually be able to do this year...it's not looking too good at the moment : (
With my legs the way they are, I’m not sure how many fitness goals I will be able to do this week, so I've kept it short...or somewhat short for me.
My goals for this week are:
Writing:
1. Finish the last of the critiques and send them on their way
2. Finish revising TBLS
3. Go over my revisions for HHBAT, TBLS, and HTFB and submit them for critique on Wednesday and then again on Friday.

Cross posting to clean_slates
I'm afraid that this week has been a complete waste of time as far as meeting all of my goals. I have had to take it easy since Tuesday when I overdid things.
As I was walking back up to the house from the garden area I stubbed my foot in the grass and jolted my knee a good one. Later that evening the leg was very painful (even Tylenol didn’t do much but take the edge off a wee bit) and it was hard to walk, so I took the bandages off and the leg swelled up like a balloon. Marge came yesterday morning and redid the bandages and the leg seems to be a tad better today. The swelling has gone down quite a bit and it’s not as painful to walk, but the itching is driving me crazy. I hate setbacks! And I hate my stupid legs!!
As for my writing ... well there was not much BIC time this week. When I sat in my chair at the computer, the leg was in an awkward position and I couldn’t get it comfortable, so I have been spending most of my time lying on the bed trying to catch up on my reading... right at the moment I’m reading DEWEY. He looks so much like my Zeus that it’s spooky.
My goals for this week were:
Writing:
1. Finish up the last of the April critiques and send them on their way
ONGOING – They should all be out by Sunday
2. Finish revising TBLS
ONGOING – I worked on this on Monday but haven’t touched it since. Hopefully I will be able to finish it this weekend
3. Go over HHBAT, TBLS, and HTFB and get them ready to submit for critique this coming week
NOPE
4. If I have time make a serious attempt at writing the query letter for HHBAT
NOPE
Fitness:
1. Continue to cut back on the cran-apple juice and increase my water intake
ONGOING - I’ve increased my water intake to 22 ounces, which isn’t bad, but it isn’t good either and am now down to only 2 cups of juice a day.
2. Go pick up the wood for the two boxes that will go on either side of the deck. Decide whether to buy strawberry plants for both boxes or go with tomatoes in one of them
NOPE – Because of the stupid legs I couldn’t I go with Marge today to pick up the lumber. She doesn’t get back from VINS until this evening so she'll try to bring it up to the house sometime tomorrow
3. Decide where to transplant the day-lilies that I dig up to make room for the boxes.
ONGOING – I think I’ll probably transplant most of them down at the lower flower garden where the cats are buried and up near the house around the wishing well which hides the well house pump
4. Finish sending out my seed orders
ONGOING - I plan on ordering them on-line tomorrow morning
Hope everyone has a very good weekend!
